When people took EPA and DHA and then did that kind of exercise, at the worst point of the damage they tended to show less soreness, less swelling, better range of motion, more strength held onto, and a lower reading of a muscle-damage marker in the blood called creatine kinase, compared to a dummy pill. That points toward faster recovery.

Here's where the analogy stops. This isn't like flipping a switch. Nobody nailed down the dose, the timing, or how big the effect really is. One review that pooled results even called the overall picture equivocal, meaning it wobbled and wasn't clean. So: promising for recovery, but hold it loosely.

Building muscle: interesting, mostly a maybe

Eat oily fish like salmon a couple times a week. Aim for two to three portions weekly if you can swing it, since most people fall short and the omega-3 is the point.

Lean on it most for recovery after brutal sessions. Don't count on it as a growth shortcut by itself. Pair your eating with actual training, that's where the muscle story looks best.

And don't stress the exact gram count. Consistency beats precision here, especially since the precise numbers aren't locked down.
